Father Ted 1995-1998 One of the high watermarks of situation comedy, this series ran to 25 hilarious episodes before coming to an end after the death of Dermot Morgan, the actor who played the title role. Written by Arthur Mathews and Graham Linehan, it dealt with a group of dysfunctional priests marooned by an uncaring church on a rugged little island off the west coast of Ireland.
