A CLAIRVOYANT who claims to have worked closely with Michael Jackson has spoken of her secret nocturnal meetings with the late King of Pop. Clairvoyant Jillian Lane, from Barry, said Jacko would "pour his heart out" to her as they sat together on Santa Monica pier in California during her frequent visits to the troubled singer's home.

Charity cash stolen from buses as pupils enjoy WMC show

BUSES taking schoolchildren to a Cardiff theatre were broken into and vandalised. The group of children from Swansea, aged between three and 10, travelled to the Wales Millennium Centre to see the matinee performance of High School Musical.

Teen wins Zurich student honour

A TEENAGER has won the first annual Zurich Insurance Student of the Year award. The prize was won by Ed Jones, 18, a student at Cardiff's Coleg Glan Hafren, which is coming to the end of its first year of partnership work with Zurich Insurance.

Phones make cash

RECYCLING mobile phones has proved profitable for primary school pupils. Youngsters at Moorland Primary School, Splott, Cardiff, have generated money for school trips, dance sessions and outdoor play resources by collecting more than 400 unwanted mobile phones over the past two years.

Nursery's award

A CARDIFF nursery school has added a prestigious international award to its credentials. Grangetown Nursery School has been awarded the British Council's intermediate level International School Award, which recognises good practice in curriculum-based international work.

Food and fitness

A WEEK of food and fitness-themed activities is under way at a Cardiff school. Football stylist Ashley Randall and Olympian Jamie Baulch will be holding workshops as part of the special week at Ysgol Pencae, Llandaff, Cardiff.

Child mortality

STUDENTS are today visiting the Houses of Parliament to raise awareness of child mortality in Third World countries. Young people from Cardiff's Radyr Comprehensive School are attending the Global Student Forum in Westminster, where they will watch presentations from experts in the issue of child mortality, engage in debates and workshops and listen to live music.

Mother thanks teachers for going the extra mile ; Primary school's head and deputy to retire this summer

A SCHOOL will lose 75 years of teaching experience when its headteacher and deputy head both retire this summer. Frank Rees, headteacher at Llanishen Fach Primary School, Rhiwbina, Cardiff, and deputy Meryl Boast are both retiring after 18 and 16 years at the school respectively.

Little pirates learn with Captain Bill

SCHOOLCHILDREN have been learning through pirate-themed fun, while raising money for injured hedgehogs. Staff and children at The Court School for children with special educational needs in Llanishen, Cardiff, gave donations to the charity Hedgehog Helpline when they dressed up as pirates for a special themed learning day.

City church is granted roof money

A GRANT of pounds 100,000 has been awarded by the Heritage Lottery Fund to Eglwys Dewi Sant in Cardiff city centre to give the church a new roof. With members of the congregation having raised an additional pounds 50,000 between them, urgent repairs to the fabric of the church will soon go ahead.

AN ENGLISH teacher at one of South Wales' top schools has escaped a ban from the classroom after being found guilty of failing to mark GCSE coursework properly. A panel at a General Teaching Council of Wales (GTCW) hearing yesterday heard that Cowbridge Comprehensive teacher Gregory Malone had handed out incorrect grades and lied to the school's headteacher about the situation.
