Shoplifter Andrew Withey, 49, was urged to seek help by Judge Philip Richards as he jailed him for three months for threatening staff at Marks and Spencer, Talbot Green, with a knife after being spotted stealing.
Murder Case Mum Denies Id Mistake
THE wife of a Bridgend-born businessman shot and killed by burglars who burst into their home in South Africa denied yesterday she had mistakenly identified the two men on trial for his murder. Father-of-four Fred Picton-Turbervill, 46, was shot in the head in front of his wife Ursula and their children at their home in Pretoria in January of last year. The burglars made off with jewellery and mobile phones.
FRANK Ireland, a driving force behind athletics in Wales, has died at the age of 84. FRANK Ireland was born in Barry on June 24, 1925.
Land Gift From Council Would Bring Health Park a Step Closer
A DECISION to gift land to the NHS for the development of a new pounds 30m health park in the Valleys would move it a step closer to being a reality. Merthyr Tydfil council says it is prepared to donate the Georgetown plateau site, just off the town centre and the A470, which is the preferred option for the long-awaited facilities.
