He Always Flirts with the Waitress

Summary

One minute my boyfriend is swearing undying love for me and taking me out for a lovely meal and the next he's flirting with the waitress. To be honest, he's usually very attentive and doesn't ogle other women like my ex-boyfriend did, but every meal we go out for ends up with me getting really snotty because of the way he smiles, jokes and flirts with the waitress. You'd think by now that he would have learned because he has to grovel to me for ages after we've been to a restaurant. How can I get through to him? L.L. Penarth LINDA SAYS: Some say the way to a man's heart is through his stomach; in your boyfriend's case, the way to his flirty bits is through a pleasant lady bringing him lots of lovely food. He's probably associating food with Mummy who pleasantly gave him some food until he left home and had some from other pleasant ladies like waitresses. If he's a good bloke who doesn't generally ogle then why worry? You could try going to restaurants with only male waiters, but you might open a whole new can of worms because he'll probably flirt with anyone who'll feed him.

Why does she think there's something wrong? Before we got together my girlfriend was a happy, funny girl. Now I'm beginning to wonder if I'm the right one for her because whenever there's a lull in the conversation or if what I call a companionable silence is happening, she asks me what's wrong. Absolutely nothing is wrong, but she just seems convinced there is if I'm thinking about something or just daydreaming. I don't know how much more of this I can take because she isn't the person I thought she was any more.
