THERE has been a lot of talk about the canal running under Queen Street, but no-one has yet mentioned the two "fire boats" that were moored alongside the Tivoli pub.

They were manned by Cardiff City Fire Brigade and covered as far down as the old fish market, giving protection to the backs of the buildings of Noah Reece, Cross Brothers, etc.
