Summary
Welsh comedy series Gavin and Stacey was the big winner at the British Comedy Awards in London. It picked up three awards - Best New British Television Comedy, Best Female Comedy Newcomer for Ruth Jones, who plays Barry-girl Nessa in the series, and Best Male Comedy Newcomer for James Corden. The show, about a girl from Barry who falls in love with a boy from Essex, had received seven nominations in this year's awards. It is written by Cardiff-based Jones and Corden and also stars comic Rob Brydon.
