Five years ago they were staring into the abyss of non-league athletics, but now Cardiff AAC's women's team is preparing to compete in Division One of the UK Women's League for the first time. On Sunday, the team, already promoted barring a complete disaster, made sure there would be no need for calculators by going to Liverpool and winning the final match, beating their main rivals - Glasgow - in the process to clinch the second promotion place.
