Summary
The Theakston's Brewery was founded in Masham, North Yorkshire, in 1827 and in 2003 the firm was once again brought under the control of the Theakston family, having spent 20 years owned by other breweries. The name of the beer comes from a 12th century ecclesiastical court, the Peculier of Masham.
Old Peculier is a dark old ale with a reddish hue. An enticing aroma of dark, roast malt and liquorice leads to a smooth, rich bitter chocolatey flavour. The aftertaste is of a complex mixture of fruit flavours including plum. Brewed with Fuggles hops, this is a full-bodied and very complex tasting beer.See the full content of this document
