MAURO Bergamasco has apologised after he was found guilty of eye- gouging during Italy's RBS 6 Nations defeat against Wales last weekend.

The flanker was handed a 13-week ban after pleading guilty to deliberately poking Wales full-back Lee Byrne in the eye towards the end of Italy's 47-8 defeat in Cardiff on Saturday.
