Summary


Labour will send Tony Blair and Gordon Brown to Wales to battle the Tory threat in the Assembly elections. A series of high-profile visits is being planned in the run-up to the May poll intended to scotch any idea that First Minister Rhodri Morgan, who has had his differences with Labour in London, wants Westminster figures to keep their distance.

The party intends to concentrate its main campaign fire on the Tories rather than Plaid Cymru, as in many of its most marginal seats the Conservatives are the main challengers.
