Little-known Frenchman Christian Cevaer eclipsed a star-studded field on the opening morning of the pounds 1.5m Wales Open at the Celtic Manor today. The 34-year-old New Caledonia-born pro, with two second place finishes to his name in the 1995 Madeira Island Open and last season's Damovo British Masters, began his search for a first win on the European Tour with some style.
