Congestion Charge Is Backed by Business Leaders

Business leaders across South Wales today backed the introduction of congestion charging - as long as the income is pumped into improving key transport links. A major report launched by Cardiff Chamber of Commerce argues that it is not a question of "if" road charging should be brought in but "how and when".

In its report, the chamber transport forum, chaired by Cardiff Bus managing director David Brown, said: "Road user charging would ideally replace the system of road fund licences and fuel duty, but that is not a pre-requisite of a road user charging scheme.
