Whitchurch's Walker Cup star Nigel Edwards was the only surviving seed when play got underway today in the quarter-finals of the Welsh Amateur Championship at Prestatyn. Edwards needed just 29 holes to make it into the last eight. Shocks were the order of the day as rain lashed the North Wales coast and seeded players fell by the wayside in dramatic fashion in the third round as these demanding links took their toll in unprecedented fashion.
