WHEN family films hit the stage it can be disappointing for children to realise that it's a different actress playing their favourite character - but try separating Claire Marie Hall from Gabriella in High School Musical.

The Newport actress is lucky enough to be part of the live version of the pre-teen film phenomenon that has swept the globe. In High School Musical, Gabriella is the bookish science girl who falls for Troy, the all-American basketball star pupil, and Claire didn't exactly need to take a method acting approach to the role.
