Don't Be Fooled by Promise of Pounds 25k Jackpot ; Ask Debs Financial and Personal Advice for the Over 50s with Deborah Boyce, Engagement Manager for the Older People's Charity Age Cymru

Summary

QI've had a letter in the post telling me that I've won pounds 25,000 in a lottery. I can't remember entering a lottery, but it all seems quite genuine. However, the company is asking me to send them an administration fee so that they can process my prize. As a couple in our late 60s, my wife and I could really do with pounds 25,000, but my friends say that this is a con and that I should not send the administration fee. What do you suggest I do? Debs says: Your friends are right. This is a con and you have not won pounds 25,000. If you really think about this, it just does not add up, does it? Winning pounds 25,000, out of the blue, when you don't even remember if you entered this lottery? This really is too good to be true.

Whatever you do, do not reply to the letter and do not send the administration fee.
