AGRANDFATHER awaiting his ninth hip operation has condemned the NHS for TWICE cancelling the surgery - once when he was gowned up and just minutes away from going under the knife.

Retired miner William Joshua has now been told he will not be given a new date for the operation because a special hospital bed needed for his recovery cannot be guaranteed.
