Jan Morgan's older sister Sandra thought she had picked up a tummy bug on holiday to India. But when the symptoms did not go away, doctors put it down to irritable bowel syndrome (IBS). Eight months later, the 52-year-old mother of two was still ill and examinations eventually found she had ovarian cancer.
Jan, 48, who lives in Rhoose with her 14-year-old daughter Holly, and is a recruitment manager at Symmons Madge Associates in Cowbridge, says: "Sandra is now in remission but she was originally misdiagnosed in January 2006 when she started having symptoms like irritable bowel syndrome and fatigue, which she now knows should have alerted her to it.See the full content of this document
