I READ with interest the article that appeared on Wales Online about the planned Waste to Energy plant proposed for my home town of Merthyr.

What worries me is not the location, on recovered land, that in my childhood was unstable ugly slag, not the 500 jobs that will be created in its construction or the 100 jobs proposed for its operation, not even the cheap electricity that will be produced, while reducing 750,000 annual tonnes of landfill waste that will be carried by rail and not road!
