Maths prodigy Alex Thorne has earned a grade A at A-level, at the age of 12. The whizz-kid from Gwaelod-y-Garth had already passed his maths GCSE at the age of just 11. This year the pupil at Kings Monkton School in Cardiff went one better, gaining a mind-boggling 575 marks out of a possible 600 in his A-level maths exam.
