Summary
The thorny issue of Controlled Parking Zones has certainly fired up a level of opposition that council leaders could not have imagined. Their plans were to restrict parking in and around busy suburban shopping centres to improve the flow of local traffic.
But campaigns by residents and businesses have certainly made local feelings known - they do not want them. A straw poll by the Echo in the Canton area of the city confirmed the strength of feeling and it was overwhelming.See the full content of this document
