Summary
His name was Grenfell Jones. But to every Echo reader, to everyone in Wales, he was simply... Gren. He lit our days with laughter, a man, a friend, as funny off the Echo page he ruled for so long as he was on it. Hard to believe, then, that he has gone. But what a legacy he left us. He always considered himself a failed flanker but in time his name, just that single word Gren, became as much a part of the rugby world he loved as those other Gods of the game who made surnames redundant: Barry and Gareth, Gerald the rest.
