'No More Pre-Season Disasters'

Cardiff City striker Peter Thorne today urged the club not to repeat the 'disaster' of last year's pre-season preparations. The Bluebirds top scorer insisted the squad did not start the troubled Championship campaign at the right level of fitness and consequently began the season so badly they only just managed to recover in time to survive.

Thorne said the pre-season programme saw the players spread too thinly across the friendly games with 45 minutes here and a substitute appearance there - but not enough actual full match training.
