Around 200 protesters demonstrated outside council offices against plans for a waste unit to be sited next to pensioners' homes. The crowd lobbied members of Caerphilly County Council as they entered a meeting to decide on a preferred bidder to operate the waste transfer station at the former Takiron site in Bedwas.
