CARDIFF University's Professor Sir Martin Evans FRS has been awarded one of the world's oldest prizes for scientific achievement by the Royal Society joining an eminent list of previous recipients including Albert Einstein.

Professor of Mammalian Genetics at the University's School of Biosciences and winner of the 2007 Nobel Prize for Medicine, Sir Martin has been awarded the Copley Medal for his work on embryonic stem cells in mice, which revolutionised the field of genetics.
