COUNCIL leader Rodney Berman admitted a new school planned for parkland in east Cardiff was an "emotive issue" but insisted it was a positive move as he instigated the next stage of the process. TheLiberalDemocratcouncillor spoke at a city executive board meeting that gave officers the go-ahead for officers to seek planningapproval forasecondaryschoolon Rumney Recreation Ground. He said that the council had the best interests of the education of young people in the east of the city at heart.
Referring to the existing Rumney and Llanrumney high schools, he said: "At the end of the day, I think we accept the fact that the schools are not providing the best quality of infrastructure.
