Schools to Benefit From Pounds 35m Windfall

Pupils and staff were today celebrating after receiving a pounds 35m cash windfall to improve their schools. Education bosses in Caerphilly county say improvements will begin immediately, with some pounds 12.5m will be spent this year on revitalising classrooms.

Major schemes to benefit from the funding include the construction of a new Penallta Bilingual Primary School, a re-fit at Rhymney Comprehensive School, and substantial improvements at schools like Ysgol Ifor Bach in Senghenydd, Oakdale Infants, Lower Rhymney Primary, Risca Comprehensive, Ystrad Mynach Junior and Infants and Risca's Ty Sign and Ty Isaf schools.
