Elderly people are being urged to check their electric blankets after experts found two out of three in a test were unsafe. More than 70 heated blankets were tested by Rhondda Cynon Taf trading standards officers. Two thirds of these blankets had faults, and 38 of them were so serious that the blankets had to be binned and replaced. RCT's councillor responsible for adult services, John David, said: 'Many of these checks have been vital in saving lives, that is why they are so important.
