Shock As Car Hit by Donkey

Summary

A taxi driver had a lucky escape when a donkey ran out into the road in front of his vehicle. Albert Holland, 48, from Barry Island, was driving his people carrier along Lavernock Road, Penarth, at 5am last Sunday, when he struck the donkey. Mr Holland, who works for K- Tax taxis in Penarth, said: 'It was a very heavy impact. Animals are very heavy and it was like hitting a brick wall or another car. 'I had a customer in the car with me, it was lucky we were both seatbelted in. I was in shock afterwards.' The passenger suffered minor cuts during the collision but the injuries were treated at the scene by paramedics.

Father-of-two Mr Holland said he has since been for a check-up at hospital and was found to have broken ribs as well as 'a few bumps and bruises', but that he was back at work.
