In a recent statement (Echo Sporstline -11 June), Labour Councillor Michael Michael criticised my suggestion that space for an athletics stadium could be considered in the plans for Cardiff City's new stadium in advance of a future bid by the capital to host the Commonwealth Games.
Given that Cardiff City are planning to build a stadium for 30,000 fans and that the Commonwealth Games require a stadium with a seating capacity of 40,000, it seems logical to consider a plan that would benefit both the club and the wider aspirations of the capital.See the full content of this document
