For that was the day rationing came to Wales and the country's men andwomen (and kids) have never been fitter at any time since. Or slimmer.

We should have remembered this a coupleofyearsagowhenthegovernment announced plans to combat obesity among children by stapling the stomachs of the one in seven who waddled like walruses instead of skipping like, well, like kids in 1940.
