M strutt, criticising Julie Morgan's travels, proposes that parliamentary candidates should state how much time they would spend on overseas problems and how much on UK ones (Viewpoints, October 8).

But this assumes all problems are either national or local. Is time spent on, say, global warming being devoted to a British problem, an overseas one, or both? Given there is more poverty overseas than in UK, does this make it right for British MPs to ignore it until it causes a hi-jacking in Cardiff North?
