A headteacher has defended his school after pupils and staff came under attack from teenagers associated with a neighbouring comprehensive.

Peter Nash, head of Cardinal Newman RC Comprehensive, Pontypridd, says his pupils were the innocent victims of an attack by a small gang from Hawthorn Comprehensive which left a 13-year-old girl with a cut leg and teachers' cars damaged.
