Summary
The Echo in 1912 brought the news that Captain Robert Scott and his men had reached the South Pole, only to find that the Norwegian explorer Amundsen had beaten them to it. None of them survived the journey back to their ship Terra Nova, which had left Cardiff in 1910, cheered on by hundreds of citizens who had 'adopted' the crew.
